After months of speculation and rumors, the BBC has finally, FINALLY, confirmed casting news about the upcoming Doctor Who 50th anniversary special.
David Tennant (10th Doctor) and Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) will return along with John Hurt as a guest star. This is not an April Fool’s joke (we hope).
Filming on the show will start next week. The current Doctor, Matt Smith, has read the script and had this to say:
“I read it and I clapped at the end. I think it’s hilarious, it’s epic and it’s vast,” he said.
Much of the previous rumors have revolved around the return of all the surviving Doctors – though a smaller cast would be in keeping with recent comments by Steven Moffat about not turning the show into a “fanfest” because of the need to move the story forward.
That having been said, are you satisfied with this casting news, or would you have actually preferred that it become more of a fanfest?
