Record Breaking Full-Scale Model LEGO X-Wing With Lights And Sound Is Freaking Incredible

This isn’t a photoshop trick but an actual full-scale Lego X-Wing. It was built in the Lego Model Shop in Kladno, Czech Republic and then shipped in a series of crates to an airplane hangar outside New York City to be reassembled. The whole thing was built to promote the debut of the new Lego Star Wars animation TV series The Yoda Chronicles which premieres on Cartoon Network on May 29th at 8:00pm. Here are some eye-popping stats:

Contains 5,335,200 LEGO bricks
Weight: 45,979.61 pounds (including bricks and steel infrastructure)
Height: 11 feet / 3.35 meters
Length: 43 feet / 13.1 meters
Wingspan: 44 feet / 13.44 meters
32 builders spent 17,336 hours (about 4 months) to construct

This is a faithful reproduction of the $60 Lego 9493 X-Wing Fighter with two very cool changes. The life-size version has engines that glow with orange light and it’s also got sound effects! The X-Wing just went on display in Times Square in New York City where it will remain for three days before being shipped across the country to Legoland California Resort.
