The Punisher was a box office dud when it was released back in 2004, but not so much because of actor Thomas Jane’s portrayal of the title character. Most fans will probably agree that he made a fine Frank Castle. That having been said, it looks like Jane had a lot of fun playing the part. At San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, the actor debuted a short, tribute film called #DirtyLaundry. He notes:
“I wanted to make a fan film for a character I’ve always loved and believed in – a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. It’s been a blast to be a part of from start to finish — we hope the friends of Frank enjoy watching it as much as we did making it.”
He also recently tweeted “Not pushing anything. Just a fan film from Friends of Frank.” to clear up any thought that he’s looking to do a second movie. We’re not buying it—but it’s okay because we wouldn’t mind seeing another Punisher film.
It stars Jane and Ron Perlman along with the most indestructible bottle of whiskey this planet has ever seen. Seriously, I want that bottle when the zombie apocalypse hits because it can destroy anything. If they make a movie, then it better get a part.
