Tablet-Controlled Emotive Robotic Avatar Will Set You Back $65,000

I suppose this can be categorized as a toy, but Hammacher Schlemmer’s Robotic Avatar isn’t going to be under many Christmas trees this year as it will set Santa back $65,000 apiece.

However, the money buys you a 4.5-foot tall robot that can express feelings through animated movement and can be controlled using a tablet computer with a 30-foot range. Using the tablet, users can pitch-shift their voice through the robot and get a live video feed to see what it sees. The robot was known as Quasi for years, but has only just become available for purchase. Check out a demo of the robot after the break.
