wasabi-absinthe

It’s day two of our three day novelty candy taste test. Next up: wasabi gumballs and absinthe mints. Find out how they tasted after the break.

absinthe

Absinthe Mints: I have never tried real absinthe, but I can tell you that these mints taste kind of like a fusion between licorice and a Stella D’oro Anisette Sponge. According to the product page, the mints are intended to taste like anise, the primary ingredient in absinthe and, I’m assuming, the namesake flavor behind the anisette sponge. Apparently anise does taste like licorice, so these mints seem to be where they should be flavor-wise.

wasabi

Wasabi Gumballs: Like the bacon version before it, these gumballs are correctly flavored in an extremely synthetic sort of way, but in this case I was bracing myself for a burst of hotness that never came. It’s Matrix wasabi without the punch. It was also one of the grossest tasting mints I tried.

I hate wasabi so I’d definitely go with the absinthe mints. Green fairies are way much cooler.
