Engadget is reporting that the 1GB Shuffle will be unavailable for the holidays – and Apple has no plans on replenishing them until sometime in mid-January.

It is also important to note that the rumor is Apple will be unveiling a new, smaller shuffle at the MacWorld expo in – you guessed it…mid January. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

So if you are planning on giving one of these as a gift this year, you may be out of luck. However, if you are looking for an alternative in the same price range, I would highy suggest the Mobiblue DAH 1500i. In a lot of ways, it is better than Apple’s shuffle.
