AllOfMP3 Delivers A Big “Kiss My Ass” To RIAA On $1.65 Trillion Lawsuit

The battle brewing between the RIAA, Russia, and the U.S. is getting more interesting by the minute. Here is the latest volley from AllofMP3.com on the $1.65 trillion lawsuit filed against them last week:

AllofMP3 understands that several U.S. record label companies filed a lawsuit against Media Services in New York,” an unnamed “senior company official” stated. “This suit is unjustified as AllofMP3 does not operate in New York. Certainly the labels are free to file any suit they wish, despite knowing full well that AllofMP3 operates legally in Russia. In the mean time, AllofMP3 plans to continue to operate legally and comply with all Russian laws.”

I’ll have to agree with AllofMP3.com on this point. The lawsuit really isn’t much of a threat to the site but the Russian government certainly is. The legality that AllofMP3 speaks of in this quote is tenuous at best. If the Russian government follows up on its promise, the site will be subject to anti-piracy laws that would effectively shut it down unless they find a way to conform.
