Just kidding. But Jon Bon Jovi’s second cousin, Tony Bongiovi, is an audio engineer with a new product that could dramatically change your audio experience in your car and even at home. His company, Bongiovi Acoustics, has developed a digital signal processor that is essentially a very sophisticated equalizer that can be tailored to an individual vehicle’s acoustic properties. What you end up with is sound like you have probably never had in something as noisy and ill-suited for precise audio reproduction as a car. It offers over 120 points of adjustability to account for individual car interiors.
The technology will be introduced with the new JVC KD-S100 stereo this week and the stereo will sell for $700-1000 depending on the make of the vehicle. The system needs to be programmed to match the make of the car, so it is only available at a dealer.
According to a demonstration given to an AP reporter, the processed sound had increased clarity, rich bass and was free of distortion. Used on home devices, it brought to life sounds that were previously missed. It may not give you the incremental improvement at home that it will in a car, but it still increases the the audio fidelity to a higher level than you currently enjoy.
