iLoad - iPod Loading Without the PC

I checked out the iLoad series of products for loading an iPod with music or video with no PC required. Initial impressions: looks simple, transfers are very slow and it is expensive.
The flagship product is the iLoad itself. Put a CD in the unit and load your iPod with the full
album or selected tracks. That sounds simple enough, but according to the website the transfer is done at 5x realtime. So your typical 40 minute album would take about 8 minutes. They say if you order now you will receive it in January. Price on it is $299.
The iLoad+ (or iLoad-v, they seem to use both names) allows you to record video off your cable feed. No specs are given on tranfer times, but keep in mind that this is just an add-on to the iLoad, so both are required and I would assume that data transfer rates are about the same. This device will run you another $129 and is coming in February 2007.
The iLoad-c is used for your Nano to connect directly to cellular carriers music stores. It does not have any need for the iLoad base product in order to function. One thing to note: if you try ordering from this from iLoad they will only sell to OEM manufacturers or cellular network operators.
Not a bad idea, it just seems that the pricing scheme is all out of whack. For the combined price of the iLoad and iLoad+ you could buy a low end PC and get a lot more functionality out of it.
For their decision to release a product that the RIAA is obviously going to hate and using a name that Apple can’t be too happy about, I do give them a tip of the hat.
