iPod Flaw Destroying Earbuds?

There is some grumbling across the web today about how various versions of the iPod have been blowing out earbuds.
Obviously, if you play music loud enough the earbuds are bound to blow, but some are arguing that the problem occured while the volume was under 60% of max.
So before you buy that expensive set of earbuds for your iPod, check out this link. You may also want to check out recent research about earbud style headphones and hearing loss.
