MySpace To Block Use Of Copyrighted Music

As far as I’m concerned, MySpace is on its way out. The site’s coding is hideous and all of the poor HTML floating around on user’s profiles has bogged the system down to the point where it is very difficult to use.
If that wasn’t enough, MySpace announced today that it has licensed technology to stop users from posting copyrighted music. Repeat offenders will have their accounts deleted.
As many of you already know, MySpace has plans to sell music from 3 million unsigned bands. Eventually, it hopes to do the same with bands on major labels.
The one thing I did like about MySpace was the ability to check out new music. Unfortunately, most of the songs that I wanted to listen to came from fans, not artist pages. It wasn’t about downloading, it was about having access to a wide selection of music to preview. It seems that this new policy will severely limit the amount of titles available on the site.
Again, this is only one of the many reasons why I believe MySpace is in trouble. Unless something is done to correct these issues, you can bet that the site will pull a Facebook and start hemorraging users.
I know this much, it will be a cold day in Hell before I return to my account.

[...] Interestingly enough, the news comes just as MySpace introduced a new licensed technology that prevents users from posting copyrighted material. To little too late it seems. [...]
