Shure announced their newest sound isolating earphone design, the E500. The new model uses the same in-ear technology as their previous models but they have added another driver to each channel to increase fidelity. Having one tweeter and two woofers increases the frequency range to provide the best performance of any of their products yet.

They also include their modular Pust-to-Hear accessory. Pressing the button activates an external microphone and mutes the music. Maybe not a requirement for your normal headphones, but the in-ear design with sound isolation requires more than just a mute button. They also include 8 pair of sleeve options for a personalized fit.

Priced at $499, they plan for a May availability.

Their previous models have been some of the best sounding earphones available, but with that kind of price point, they really need to deliver the expected increase in comfort and sound. I do believe they can do it, lets wait a couple months to see what they come out with.
