I guess the answer to your child’s irrational fears is to play along. Not only to play along but to have an answer as well.
The next time your child won’t sleep because of the monsters under the bed or in the closet, get out your trusty Monster Spray and shoo them away. IT could be water in this bottle for all I know, luckily the kids don’t think that much about things like this. You telling them that it will shoo monsters away is all the confirmation they need. They may have trust issues later in life after finding out how they were hoodwinked, but at least they will go to sleep.
