When Alex Tew, the mastermind behind the original Million Dollar Homepage, finally reached his goal in January of 2006, I remember thinking “great, now what is he going to do? Make a 2 Million Dollar Homepage?” Then I laughed heartily.
Yes, Alex Tew is going to make a two million dollar homepage – except this time he’s calling it Pixellotto. He will also be holding some sort of lottery where users who click on the right ad will win $1 million.
Could Tew be successful a second time around? Many believe that lighting couldn’t possibly strike twice with the same old tired idea. I, on the other hand, am not so sure. Yes, Tew isn’t bringing anything new to the table and we all know that the idea of pixelated advertisements has been done to death across the internet, but let’s not forget that Pixellotto will generate a lot of buzz and buzz is all you need to pull in advertisers. Plus, the idea of winning a million dollars will undoubtedly generate a decent amount of traffic.
All in all I’m a little disappointed at the lack of innovation here, but that just might be my crippling jealousy talking.

Hey I’ve already launched two sites. Both work around this concept. The first is http://www.cashcells.co.uk – Which offers the user the chance to win cash by clicking ad, the second is http://www.microlotto.co.uk – this offers the advertisers who buy the squares the chance to win the jackpot, in a sort of ‘cell lottery’.
