Save and save often. Always run your backup. Words to live by in our very computerized world, but what happens when you manage to erase what you saved and then find out your backup is no good? That was the harrowing dilemma facing Pixar’s Oren Jacob and Galyn Susman when someone accidentally typed the Linux command to erase everything. Fortunately, a baby saved the day.

Earlier this month we were treated to the international trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and it was full of scary alien goodness. Now, we get a clip of Prometheus landing on the planet and everything seems just fine. But you know it’s not. The music is too happy. The crew is too cocky. This is all going to end with aliens stuck on people’s faces and me hiding my eyes. Trust me, when the film opens on June 8th you’re all going to be sleeping with the lights on for a month.

As you know, Biff Tannen was Marty McFly’s nemesis in The Back to The Future trilogy. It didn’t matter if he was young Biff or old Biff, he was a jerk. But the guy that played him, Tom Wilson, is damn funny and he has the world’s most verbose business card as proof. Rather than answer the same questions about the movie over and over, he wrote up all the things he’s constantly asked and put them on his business card. And he even wrote up a song to go with it.

The Avengers saved the planet, but at what cost? In case you hadn’t noticed, they did a number on downtown Manhattan.

At the request of The Hollywood Reporter, disaster-cost prediction company Kinetic Analysis Corp. formulated an answer, but it’s a number so large that even Tony Stark might have a little trouble picking up the tab. Their estimate is a whopping $16o billion dollars when you factor in damage, the economic impact, cleanup time and loss of life. To give some perspective, the Japanese Tsunami cost $122 billion or Hurricane Katrina at only $90 billion.

So many products. So little money. Here’s your solution. All you need is a little time and some paint and you can make your very own Avengers bookmarks. Yes, they’re supposed to be for kids but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with making one for yourself. Or two. Or all of them. You can get the full supply list and a step by step over at Crafts by Amanda, but this one looks easy enough to just figure out on your own. Besides, there’s no Black Widow or Thor, and you can’t have partially assembled Avengers.

Those of us in the know have been glowing since we heard about the way The Avengers is breaking records left and right. Our Joss is behind it, so of course it’s amazing. I can see a day when I will have a conversation with mundanes and say “Joss Whedon” and not have to follow it with a list of TV shows they’ve never heard of or deem to be beneath them. I even dare to hope that people will stop pronouncing his name like “Josh.”

Just when I thought I couldn’t be any more proud to be a Whedon fan, Joss went and wrote this letter. It’s basically a love letter thanking folks for always supporting him. He tells us it’s okay to brag to the rest of the world, “We told you this Whedon guy was good.” He also talks about the success of The Avengers and how he feels about it with his usual level of awesome.

I encourage you to share the letter below with at least one person who saw the superhero movie and didn’t have any idea who Joss Whedon was.

One of the best parts of all this Avengers hype is seeing the cool things fans put together as a tribute to their favorite superheroes. We have Ken Robichaud, Avengers fan and Lego enthusiast, to thank for these fabulous recreations of their iconic weapons. These are 1:1 scale, so you can actually wield Thor’s hammer without being Thor. Just don’t smash stuff with it because you’ll have a Lego catastrophe all over the floor.
