in Audio, Cellphones

If you want concrete evidence that an iPhone is in the works, look no further than the U.S. Patient Application.

AppleNote the following under the “Claims” heading:

  • The portable computing device as recited in claim 6 wherein the handheld computing device is a cell phone.
  • The portable computing device as recited in claim 1 wherein the portable computing device is a handheld computing device.
  • The portable computing device as recited in claim 6 wherein the handheld computing device is a media player.
  • The handheld computing device as recited in claim 16 wherein the user interface sub system includes a display and a touch pad.

Is Kevin Rose’s info on the iPhone correct? Does the fact that it was referred to as a “handheld computing device” lend credence to the notion that the iPhone will run a mini version of OSX? We will just have to wait and see.
