The new Nokia 7380 is fashionable, there is no doubt about that - but is it functional?
Reviews:
MobileBurn: (Recommended) “The Nokia 7380 s certainly not a phone for everyone. Heck, it probably isn’t even a phone for 1% of everybody. But there are going to be those that will appreciate its slim form factor and unique looks, and who will be willing to overlook silly things such as the lack of a keypad.”
MobileReview: “The unusual form of the small case and precise focusing on female audience makes Nokia 7380 extremely unusual and unique device in the market. The manufacturer emphasizes, that the phone befits both women and men. But I can’t imagine a man using a phone with the similar design. Certainly, there will be some daredevils, but they will only accent that 99 percents of this phone’s users are women.”
InfoSync: (51%) “ The Nokia 7380 bears no resemblence to an ordinary mobile phone, providing an Apple iPod-style scroll wheel for navigation and text input as opposed to a keypad. On the upside, it’s smaller than most phones and also sports a widescreen display, but its mediocre battery life and virtually unusable text input hamper use to the extent that it cannot be recommended as a daily-use handset. Using it to show off, however, is another matter altogether.”

Bottom Line: The General consensus is that the 7380 is more about looks than it is about functionality. The phone pushes the envelope when it comes to creative design, which makes it a good choice for those looking to impress their friends. And, while Nokia argues that this phone is for both sexes, it is pretty obvious that women are the real target market here.

[...] The Nokia 7380: Nokia claims that this sylish cellphone can be enjoyed by both men and women - however, it doesn’t take a huge market research budget to realize that no man will get within 100 feet of this thing. The “lipstickesque” design of the 7380 may be pleasing to the female set - but it is severely lacking under the hood. The complete lack of a keypad combined with horrible battery life and a $600 price tag make this one for a niche market only. [...]
