Samsung F500
Samsung has unveiled the Ultra Video F500, the first phone to support the DivX video codec. It is also capable of handling MPEG-4, H.264, WMV and AVI on 400MB of internal memory or up to 2GB on a microSD card.

Other features include a 2.4-inch screen, a 2-megapixel camera and a swivel base that doubles as a stand.

The F500 represents a big opportunity for DivX , Samsung and the consumer given the fact that DivX’s superior compression technology means more videos can be stored on the phone (up to 3 or 4 full length movies). This will undoubtedly translate into happier consumers and higher demand for Samsung.

The Samsung Ultra Video F500 will retail for $350 starting in January.

No information has been released on the availablility of the F500 as of yet. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the launch take place outside of the U.S.

We always get the cool phones last.
