Students Using Ringtone Adults Can’t Hear

A few years ago a Welsh company developed a tone called “the mosquito” that was intended to prevent teenagers from loitering in front of stores. Most adults were unaffected by the sound due to “aging ear,” a condition that decreases our ability to hear higher frequency sounds as we age.
Not surprisingly, teenagers have adapted this technology to suit their needs - namely using it as a text message ringtone while in class.
In most cases, the teacher could be right next to the student with a ringing cellphone and not hear a thing.
Funny how test scores keep declining but when it comes to sticking it to the man teenagers are like freakin’ MacGyver.
