Verizon Looking To Merge With Alltel

Word on the street is that Verizon is currently negotiating with Alltel to secure a merger that would make Verizon the largest national cellphone carrier ( over Cingular / AT&T ) by about 10 million subscribers.
This deal may never go down, but if you ask me something like this is bound to happen.
