If you are anything like me, yesterday’s announcement that the iPhone will be available in June made you a hell of a lot more interested in signing up with Cingular. Unfortunately, I am currently locked into a two year contract with another provider and I would prefer to not pay for a cancellation fee should I decide to make the switch.

Many people are unaware of the fact that they pass off their cellphone contract onto another party and escape the cancellation fee. If this applies to you, it might be worth your while to check out Celltrade.

Celltrade is essentially a matchmaking service for cellphone owners. You set up a profile highlighting the details of the contract and any accessories or incentives you would like to add to sweeten the deal and Celltrade will match you up with other users that are interested in taking over your contract.

Keep in mind that Celltrade will charge you $19.99 (although you can gauge interest in your plan before paying) to hook you up with interested parties, and you still have to do the paperwork associated with the switch (assistance is provided), but it is still cheaper than paying the cancellation fees issued by your carrier.

My guess is that if you plan on picking up a $499-$599 phone on day 1, dishing out some extra cash isn’t that much of a concern.
