Rejoice! Apple has launched the new iMac line nearly a week earlier than expected. All iMacs now come with Intel Core Duo processors and are up to 50% faster than previous versions.
The major news, however, is the addition of a 24-inch model. The specs are as follows:
- 24-inch widescreen LCD display
- 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
- 1GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM expandable to 3GB
- 8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
- PCI Express-based NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT with 128MB GDDR3 memory
- Built-in iSight video camera
- Built-in AirPort Extreme wireless networking & Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
- 250GB Serial ATA hard drive running at 7200 rpm;
- Mini-DVI out (adapters for DVI, VGA and Composite/S-Video sold separately)
- Built-in stereo speakers and microphone
- Infrared Apple Remote, Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard
The new iMac line is now available via the Apple Store. Prices range from $999 to $1999.
Now that the new iMac line has been taken off the table for the September 12th media event, one has to wonder what Apple will have to announce. Will it be limited to the new iPod line? I guess we will have to wait and see.
