According to Bit-Tech, ATI has recently hired a guy named Macci, one of the world’s top overclockers, to work on its next gen motherboards codenamed RD580.
Macci is best known for his outrageous experiments with overclocking – experiments that usually involve liquid nitrogen and “some awesome soldering skills.”
Apparently, the goal is to make these chipsets “insanely overclockable.”
Bit-Tech also brought up a good point – it seems entirely plausable that ATI might try and leverage the Macci name to sell products in much the same manner as various companies employ the Fatal1ity brand.
Whatever. All I care about right now are the words “insanely” and “overclockable.”
Consumers should be able to try the RD580 in early 2006.
