According to the Inquirer Nividia has been forced to limit the supply of GeForce 7800 GTX 512 graphics cards because they are not getting enough 144-pin 1.1ns Samsung GDDR-3 memory chips.
Apparently Nvidia will only be able to ship 4000 of the cards per week - worldwide. This is a significant development when you consider that the 7800 GTX 512 may be the best graphics card on the market today - as reported in this Nerd Approved article.
“Nvidia’s problem right now is that demand exceeds supply by a mile.” So, the throngs of people clamoring to spend $700 on the card will have to fight over the 12-15000 boards that are available for the holiday rush.
