So the brewing is complete on Nerd Approved’s breakfast in a bottle brand of oatmeal, coffee, bacon stout. As promised, I took some photos and added a bit of detail so you know where we are and what the next steps are going to be.
Steps in the brewing process (in no particular order):
The beer will complete fermentation in about a week, and I’ll rack it at that point (move it to another container) to help clear it up. A few days before bottling, I will dry hop, or steep as it were, crispy bacon into the beer to impart those meaty flavors.
I’ll end up bottling this instead of kegging, but before I do that, I will also add some coffee (probably Kona or Sumatra) brewed in a French Press. A week or two after that, the beer should be ready for tasting. Naturally, I will keep you up to date on these steps as they happen.
