American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy has said that the Wii and PS3 will likely be in short supply until the March and June quarters respectively.

If history is any indicator, last year I wrote a similar article about the XBox 360 which claimed that shortages could last “well into spring.” In the end, the console was on store shelves in fairly healthy numbers by the end of February / the beginning of March.

If you did not manage to score one of these consoles this holiday, don’t be too discouraged. The bottom line is that analysts are much like weather forecasters. It seems like they don’t have any idea what they are talking about most of the time.
