Foil Caused Overheating XBoxes?

It looks like two things may have contributed to the well publicised XBox overheating debacle - rushed production and stupidity.
Apparently, manufacturers forgot to take the protective foil off some of the heatsinks during assembly.
The mistake was discovered by a group of German modders at modcontrol.com, and according to their findings, the foil could lead to graphics chip overheating.

Foil problem or not, the XBox 360 runs hot 24/7. That’s why a number of cooling solutions - commerical and private have been developed.
