Fox Bringing Atari’s ‘Missile Command’ To The Big Screen

Hollywood has officially gone nuts with video game movie adaptations. According to the LA Times, Atari is on the verge of selling the movie rights to the circa 1980 game Missile Command to 20th Century Fox.

If you are wondering how in the hell Fox plans to create a plot for this movie, you are not alone. Details are scarce this early in the game, but the story is “putatively set in another galaxy” and it will likely be shot in 3D. Hoo boy!

Of course, it’s important to point out that just because the rights were purchased does not mean an actual movie will be made anytime soon. However, it does put the pressure on other studios to snatch up other “viable” franchises while they can. All I’m sayin’ is that someone needs to get on Pac Man and Pong real fast.
