Gamestop Fires Employee For Planking [Image]

Perhaps Gamestop should take a cue from Apple and get a sense of humor. For example, filmmaker Mark Malkoff discovered that Apple is open to pretty much anything—and that’s good publicity.

Gamestop, on the other hand, fired five-year veteran John Mazzocchi and the co-worker that took the picture of him planking between two kiosks after they posted the image on twitter. That’s bad publicity.

Yes, planking is an extremely stupid fad and this was probably dangerous, but still—kind of a dick move to pull on someone who has worked at a crappy Gamestop for so long. Five years might as well be fifty in retail.

Well, apparently planking isn’t completely useless. Now Mazzocchi and his co-conspirator can go get jobs somewhere with a future. Here’s a tip, guys: Don’t bother with Best Buy, they’ll be bankrupt in 5 years.

Yeah, that’s my timeframe for Best Buy as well. The only problem is, where will we go to check out gadgets before we buy them on Amazon?

Fry’s Electronics. If you don’t have one in your town–move.

Those “kiosks” spin. This is double-dangerous. And hilarious. GameStop let me go over less.

If my personal experience is any indicator, then GameStop fired them for showing that _nobody was in the store_ at some point.
