Gamestop Screws Up PS3 Pre-Orders

If you waited in long lines at your local Gamestop to get your hands on a PS3, prepare to be furious.

We are beginning to notify our customers that our initial shipment of PS3 systems will not be what we expected,” a representative for the retailer told GameSpot.com . “As this is not an ideal situation, we are asking employees to wait to purchase systems until the second shipment. We are anticipating having systems to cover reservations before Christmas.”

On launch day, pre-orders will be filled in the order that they were received and those who do not get their PS3 right away will have to be satisfied with a lame used game or DVD valued at $19.99 or less as compensation for their troubles.

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to think that GameStop sucks some serious balls. I mean, who sells Halo 3 pre-orders a full year before release? Seems a little shady to me.

And lets not forget Sony’s responsibility in this matter. Launching with only 800,000 consoles in the US and 88,000 consoles in Japan is ridiculous.
