According to Joystiq, an “alleged” employee of Rockstar North in Glasgow Scotland revealed that the next installment of the GTA series will take place in London – circa 1997.
The anonymous tipster also claims that the game is 60% complete and that it will make it’s debut on the PS3 in Q4 of 2006.
The main character is described as “an ex-gangster starting off in the “rough-and-tumble east end of London.”
As many of you hardcore GTA gamers might remember, this would not be the first time that Rockstar has mined London for storylines. An expansion pack for the original PC version of GTA (1999) was entitled – “Grand Theft Auto: London 1969.”
Personally, I find it hard to believe that Rockstar would revisit old territory like this. Besides, stories involving “alleged” employees that apparently “don’t have the most perfect spelling” usually don’t amount to much. I mean, what’s so special about 1997 London?
This one has all the earmarks of a steaming pile… but that’s just one man’s opinion.
