Rumors have been swirling over the last few days regarding the possibility that Metal Gear Solid 4 would not be a PS3 exclusive. In response to these rumors Konami has released the following statement:
“Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time,” a Konami representative told CVG. The spokesman reiterated that Guns of the Patriots is “exclusive to PlayStation 3.”
TeamXBox suggests that this response may not be accurate because Konami may have signed an exclusive agreement with Sony that would force them to deny plans to ship for other platforms. While I think that this may be wishful thinking, you have to believe that Konami is getting a little worried about Sony’s ability to deliver the goods this time. The PS3 is getting hammered by the Wii and the XBox because of Sony’s inability to get consoles on the shelves. That, combined with it’s high cost to own, the bad press about the Blu-Ray player and the PS3 graphics, as well as Sony’s poor treatment of other third party publishers would definitely lead me to wonder whether or not I could move enough games on the system to be profitable.
