Wiimote Straps

Who didn’t see this one coming?

A nationwide class action lawsuit has been filed against Nintendo claming that the original Wii-mote strap was “ineffective for its intended use.”

Despite the fact that Nintendo has replaced the straps with thicker versions and offered to do the same for current Wii owners free of charge, the lawsuit asks the court to order the company to “correct the defect in the Wii Remote… by refunding or replacing the product with a product that functions as warranted, represented, and intended” along with “such other and further relief as the Court deems just and proper.”

From my perspective, this lawsuit appears to be fairly weak. My guess is that the impetus for the replacement program was more likely the fear of a more damning lawsuit involving bodily injury that some measly class action suit.
