Apparently Bizzard is taking the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ stance on gay friendly guilds in World of Warcraft.
Blizzard even went so far as to warn a player by email that she would not be allowed to advertise her guild because it violated their sexual harassment policy. They felt that her actions may incite others to harass players that were members of minority groups.
Needless to say, reaction was swift.
Stonewall, a professional lobbying group for gay righs responded thusly:
“This attempt to create a safe, gay-friendly environment should be welcomed, not blocked. Hopefully this is just a misunderstanding. Stonewall would encourage Blizzard to review their policy, to make sure it has effect where it’s actually needed.”
