You need to be careful if you’re purchasing an Xbox One online or through Craigslist. One dude received a box of paper towels instead of the console, and 19-year-old Peter Clatworthy only received a picture of one. Clatworthy forked over $735 for the console as a present for his four-year-old son (though really – what is a kid that young going to do with a fancy new Xbox?!). When he received the box, all it had was a photo of the item in the eBay listing. Oops.
If you look at the listing closely, it did state it was a photo; there were some completed listings titled “Xbox One Fifa 14 Day One Edition, Photo Brand New UK 2013.” Clatworthy asked for a refund, and eBay has demanded that the seller provide it. Just remember: if you’re planning to buy these new consoles second hand, be on the lookout for scams. eBay and Craigslist are flooded with them right now.
