EA’s senior VP John Schappert revealed last week that the next installment of the popular Madden franchise is currently in development for the Nintendo Wii console.
What’s even more interesting is that Schappert revealed a little about how the “revolutionary” Wii controller will work in the game:
“To hike a ball in the version, gamers will simply pull up the controller. To throw a ball, they will gesture with a throwing motion. Hard, fast gestures may result in bullet passes while more relaxed gestures could effect lob passes, he said. Meanwhile, to kick, players would “… take the controller as if it were your foot and swing up on it.” Apparently, the straighter the motion, the more likely that the ball will fly true.”
He also noted that you can run with the analog stick, juke with a flick of the nunchuck, and stiff arm with the wand.
Madden ’07 is slated to be unveiled at E3 next week. Hopefully, we will get a glimpse of the Nintendo Wii controller in action on this title.
