USA  network is attempting to do for video gaming what t.v. has done for poker with 7 one hour episodes this fall highlighting the Major League Gaming circuit and it’s players.

“The upcoming televised series will aim to engage viewers with not only with the game play itself — featuring top players of “Halo 2″ on XBox and “Super Smash Bros. Melee” on Nintendo — but also sports-like commentary and profiles of the players.”

The president of Major League Gaming believes that this is a sign that professional gaming has finally arrived – comparing it to Poker two years ago or Nascar fifteen years ago.

And if you don’t believe that professional gaming is a viable source of revenue for USA or for the players, check out this Nerd Approved article on how Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel earns a six figure salary playing video games.
