Step aside NES Classic Edition. The RetroEngine Sigma might be the retro gamer’s dream console. This pint-sized gaming platform claims to emulate nearly 30 old school classic gaming systems, ranging from the Game Boy to the Dreamcast to the N64.
The RetroEngine promises to make running old school games fairly simple and straightforward: instead of having to tinker with emulators, a RetroEngine user relies on a smartphone-based app to download the software needed to run retro games (for legal reasons you’ll have to find those games yourself, though 15 games are included). The console features USB ports for attaching controllers and Bluetooth adapters, and it can even function as a 4K-capable media center.
The team behind the RetroEngine Sigma is currently gathering funds on Indiegogo, and the first 500 contributors can pre-order the lil’ emulator for $50. Shipping is slated for mid-2017.
