Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard

Last year, Logitech released the G15, and gamers rejoiced. This year they rolled out the G11, which is basically G15 sans the LCD screen (its major selling point). Does the lower price of the G11 make up for the lack of LCD goodness?

Reviews:

CNET (7.0 out of 10): “Logitech’s G11 Gaming Keyboard has neither the high-tech flash nor the built-in LCD screen of Logitech’s G15 model, but otherwise the two keyboards are exactly the same. Nongamers might not be too interested, but thanks a vast array of customizable keys and sharp blue LED backlighting, we imagine all kinds of PC gamers could benefit from it.”

ExtremeTech (6 out of 10): “The G11 is very much like the Logitech G15, minus the LCD readout. We were pretty thrilled at the thought of a keyboard with an LCD readout like the G15’s, but that feeling pretty much went out the window with the G11. Still, if you don’t have any interest in the LCD, the G11 is an option.”

Techgage (8 out of 10): “For the retail price of $70US… I feel this keyboard is well worth it. However, I’d love to see the G spot hit a different area of the board if it’s even possible. I found myself hitting those keys much more than I should be, when not playing games. If you have the patience to set up many macros and don’t mind a slight learning curve, pick one up. If you are well off with whatever keyboard you are using now and don’t require macros, then stick with it.”

Product Features:

  • Illuminated characters
  • 3 Levels of backlighting
  • 18 fully programmable G keys
  • Macro button
  • Media keys
  • Cable routing channels
  • Price $69.99

Bottom Line: All of the features and ratings aside, the bottom line here is that a full on G15 with LCD screen can be had for just a few dollars more than the inferior G11. Why anyone would pay the same price for a lesser model is beyond me.
