
Anyone who took a look at yesterday’s post on the website alliwantforxmasisapsp.com was made painfully aware of what viral marketing looks like when it has gone very, very wrong.
Today, Sony admitted to the deception.
“Busted. Nailed. Snagged. As many of you have figured out (maybe our speech was a little too funky fresh???), Peter isn’t a real hip-hop maven and this site was actually developed by Sony. Guess we were trying to be just a little too clever. From this point forward, we will just stick to making cool products, and use this site to give you nothing but the facts on the PSP.

I don’t know what I should be more pissed about – the fact that Sony tried to deceive the public or that they tried to do it with this crap. After last year’s Graffiti debacle, you would think that Sony learned a lesson about the do’s and don’ts of marketing.
