Today, Jack Tretton, the CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America assured gamers everywhere that PS3 shortages will end by May.
“April or May is when we feel like we’re going to catch up to demand and have product fully in stock across North America and stay there.“
If you are thinking “hey Jack, what are you…stupid?” I’m right there with you. As far as I can tell 99% of the electronics stores out there have more PS3s in stock than they know what to do with.
Needless to say, Tretton layed on the Sony spin pretty thick:
“It’s a testament to the fact that we’ve been able to manufacture and ship units on a greater pace than any previous console.“
“Our goal is to fill shelves across the United States. Our goal is not to have empty shelves, it’s to have full shelves. If we have empty shelves, that’s one less consumer who could have bought a PlayStation 3.“
Whatever, Admit it Jack – the PS3 isn’t selling as fast as you expected. But that’s what happens when you focus on hardware an not on games.
