Today at the Tokyo Game Show Microsoft announced that the XBox 360 will be supporting 1080p resolution via an upcoming software update.
While Microsoft has no plans to develop games taking advantage of this ability, the move does mean that XBox 360 owners will be able to play current games at the new resolution and upscale their existing DVD movies to HD.
Essentially this takes a little of the wind out of Sony’s Blu-ray enabled PS3, not to mention Microsoft’s own upcoming HD-DVD add on.
It seems that with each passing day I am more turned off to the PS3. Hopefully Sony will come up with something positive at TGS that will turn the tide.
