Rumor has it that sometime between now and the spring of 2007, the Nintendo Wii will be available in an assortment of colors with a reduced price point of $200.
Nintendo rumors are a dime a dozen, and this one seems to have originated with a local Toys-R-Us manager so take it with a grain of salt. However, we know that Nintendo had multicolored Wii’s at E3 and we have also heard analysis that suggests the Nintendo Wii costs $158 to produce. Therefore it is not entirely outside the realm of possibility.
Furthermore, a spring 2007 re-launch would coincide with Nintendo’s plan to introduce the Wii’s online service WiiConnect 24, so it might make some sense to make a push on the hardware end during that time.
So the question is, do you put off picking up a Nintendo Wii this Sunday until the spring based on a rumor? I’m sure as hell not going to.
