There is plenty of news hitting the web about when gamers will get their next crack at a Nintendo Wii or PS3 console – and all of it revolves around Black Friday. Here is what we have heard:
SCEA’s Dave Karraker has confirmed that a new shipment of Playstation 3s has landed and will be available in stores by Black Friday. There is no word yet on how many consoles will be available, but I would expect it to be minimal considering that Sony is shipping consoles by air as opposed to by sea. This ensures that stocks are replenished quickly, but in fewer numbers. I would imagine that most, if not all of these consoles would go to individuals who had pre-orders but missed out on the initial launch.
Nintendo, on the other hand, is replenishing supply weekly and in much larger numbers. However, getting your hands on one might still prove difficult so make sure to check in with nearby stores frequently.
It appears that both Best Buy and GameStop are once again proving that they are total bastards by holding their Wii shipments until Black Friday. They have already arrived mind you, but by holding onto them until Friday they assure larger crowds.
Sony and Nintendo expect to launch 1 million and 4 million consoles respectively by the end of the year, but keep in mind that these are just estimates and you need to keep on top of things if you want to score one of these systems for the holidays.
