As it turns out, most of the glitches regarding the XBox 360 seem to be caused by an excessive amount of heat. According to one Gamespot Forum member, the problem is not so much the console – its the freakin’ huge power supply.
His recommendation? Increase the airflow.
Suspend it in the air with a string, put it on top of an open box, get a fan – whatever it takes to increase the airflow around the device.
Obviously, this is not a long term solution. Chances are, if this does work for you, the power supply is defective and will have to be replaced. Call 1-800-4MY-XBOX to troubleshoot any problems you might have. If the problem cannot be solved over the phone, Microsoft has promised to replace any defective hardware free of charge.
