The urban legend about all those copies of Atari’s E.T. The Extraterrestrial game being buried in New Mexico was proved true earlier this year, and now you’ll be able to buy those long-lost games. The Alamogordo City Commission has determined that the games found in the city’s landfill can be sold once they’re appraised by the New Mexico Museum of Space History.
There were over 1000 copies found with 100 going to Lightbox and Fuel Entertainment for the dig documentary and 700 going up for sale with a certificate of authenticity once they’re appraised. The remainder will be go to local museums.
