Coupled with the announcement of their iPod Hi-Fi, Apple also announced new Intel versions of their Mac Mini. They are offering two versions- the $599 version has a 1.5 GHz Core Solo processor, 60 GB HDD and a slot load Combo drive. The $799 version has a 1.66 GHz Core Duo processor, 80 GB HDD and 8x SuperDrive with double layer support.
Apple claims three to five times faster processing with these new models. Their inlcuded FrontRow software that will allow you to use this as an add on to your current media setup, allowing you to use your existing audio and video devices to listen to stored music or view pictures and video. The included remote control removes the need to use a keyboard and mouse. Use the built in wireless to access audio/video from any other computer on the network.
Some of the features that make this particularly attractive, beyond what is already discussed are the DVI interface, the built in zero configuration wireless networking and their iLife ’06 suite of digital lifestyle applications. Check out all the specs and options here.
