A MIT born security startup named SiteAdvisor has determined that approximately 5% of all web traffic is unsafe – which translates into about 1 billion visits a month.
In order to combat this problem, SiteAdvisor has developed a free trial version of a web browser plug-in that places a safe, caution, or warning label when a user visits a website.
“The idea is to use the color-coded (red, yellow or green) system to mark every Web site and to help Web surfers determine if a site’s content includes spyware, spam, viruses, browser-based exploits or online scams.”
