Microsoft's Aggreg8

Microsoft has officially launched Aggreg8, a site that is being billed as a MySpace-esque social networking site for IT pros. Users can share scripts, tools, best practices, or connect with others in the profession (can you say IT dating?).

The site will allow users to either collaborate with fellow developers through preset working groups, or allow them to create their own. Additionally, space would be provided in the groups to allow users to post messages and files, and share events, the company said.”

For those of you who might be wondering, Microsoft’s Aggreg8 has no relation to the RSS reader of the same name. Microsoft approached Phillip Roche, the creator of the reader and purchased both the Aggreg8.com and .net domains for a reported $5000.  Roche has since moved the site to the Aggreg8.org and Aggreg8.co.uk domains, but both sites have yet to be launched.
