apricorn.jpgThe Apricorn DVR Xpander is useful for any DVR user who either records a lot and doesn’t have time to watch it, someone recording a lot of High Definition content or someone who travels for an extended period of time for work or play. Really just an external hard drive that plugs into an eSATA port, it comes in capacities of 250GB and 500GB. The larger HDD will give you up to 280 hours of standard definition recording, or 60GB of HD content. At $129 and $199 respectively, it is reasonably priced, with the 500GB drive being much a much better cost per gigabyte.

If this is the future of DVR, I am all for it. Ship a reasonably cheap DVR with a base HDD, and then allow the add on. If they made it so you can move programs to the external drive and then take it somewhere else and watch the content, the DVR could be twice as useful.
